Sushmita Sinha is an Instagrammer who the troll brigade went after for sharing a picture where she is purportedly using Haritalika Teej Vrat Katha as toilet paper. On her insta story she put out a video in Hindi saying, “I don’t have any use for this booklet now, so I am thinking of using it as a tissue paper or toilet paper, what do you think?” She is being trolled for ‘disrespecting a Hindu festival’. Teej is a festival celebrated by women in many parts of India and Nepal to welcome the rain gods with dance and prayers. The booklet Sushmita Sinha is showing in the insta story is for the festival of Teej.
“No one gives a f*** if you’re a feminist. atheist or a secularist. If you can’t respect Sanatan Dharm, your best place is behind the bars,” said one Tweet.
A video was posted by an unverified handle that called itself Hindu IT Cell.

In the last 24 hours Heer Khan, a YouTuber was arrested for making anti Hindu remarks. The police in the UP city of Prayagaraj arrested her for ‘making derogatory remarks against Hindu gods and goddesses in her video.’
Heer Khan had uploaded video in which she abused Hindu gods and the video clocked thousands of views within an hour of being put on Youtube. Many on social media condemned the video, causing the hashtag #ArrestHeerKhan to trend on Twitter.
Political and religious comments by Youtubers and comedians have been in the spotlight. Recently Mumbai-based stand-up comedian Agrima Joshua was in the middle of a social media storm as a controversy erupted over allegations of her insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The stand-up comic’s jokes ‘upset’ Shiv Sena and they asked for her arrest. Agrima took to twitter to apologise to the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Despite that she received rape threats on social media and was at the receiving end of a lot of ugly commentary from men whose ‘sentiments’ were ‘hurt.’
